Brechin 1-3 East Fife- Match Report

East Fife's chances of sneaking into the play-offs improved greatly as they surprised second-placed Brechin with a 3-1 win at Glebe Park.

Mark McCulloch opened the Fifers` account when his 30-yard strike zipped into the bottom corner after 27 minutes and John Robertson's men doubled their advantage when Brechin right-back Andrew Cook sent the same player's cross from the left into his own net shortly after half-time.

Brechin were handed a lifeline in the 61st minute when centre-half Ewan Moyes notched his fifth goal of a prosperous season with a fine header from Neil Janczyk's free-kick from the right.

However, they failed to take full use of it and were sunk when Ryan Wallace fired an angled drive from the edge of the box past veteran goalkeeper Craig Nelson after a clever ball from Robert Linn.
