Brechin 2-0 East Fife- Match Report

Battling Brechin secure first win

Brechin scored two second-half goals to kick-start their season with a 2-0 win over East Fife at Glebe Park.

In an evenly contested first period, both teams created chances but neither managed to convert, with Liam Buchanan at the heart of all the visitors' good work.

The hosts came out unchanged for the second half and found themselves a goal to the good when Ryan Donnelly headed Alan Trouten's cross beyond Michael Andrews after 65 minutes.

East Fife struggled to create chances and Trouten turned goalscorer in the final 10 minutes when he finished neatly after a fortuitous touch knocked the ball into his path.

The 27-year-old former Ayr striker almost doubled his tally for the day when his shot cannoned off the post and rolled across the line but the hosts had already done enough to secure their first three points of the campaign.
