League leaders Brechin City dropped points to struggling Dumbarton for the second time in ten days, but neither side deserved a victory after as poor a match as you are likely to see all season.

City however will be kicking themselves after getting off to a flying start.

With less than two minutes on the clock Stuart Callaghan was left in space on the edge of the six-yard box to sweep home a James Sharp free-kick which Stephen Grindlay got both hands to but could not keep out.

The Sons struck back midway through the half with a controversial penalty. Sharp was adjudged to have pushed home skipper Paul Ronald inside the box and Craig McEwan made no mistake from the spot.

Both sides struggled to try and find a winner although David White crashed a second-half header off the home crossbar, while at the other end James Allan was brought down when clean through although Sharp's challenge was deemed only worthy of a yellow card.

Right on time Brechin's Charlie King almost snatched all three points with a free-kick from the edge of the box which Grindlay did well to touch over at full stretch.
