Brechin City triumphed in the Angus derby but there was little in the way of traditional excitement for either set of fans.

However, the three points are the most important thing for Brechin who stay firmly in the top half of the table.

Forfar however remain in real danger.

The first half was a dire affair and neither keeper had a single save to make. The closest either side came to a goal was in the 20th minute when Brechin's Scott Walker headed wide of the post from a Stuart Callaghan cross.

The second half started with a bang however, as Brechin took the lead just seconds in. Darren Smith sent over a harmless looking cross but no one picked up the run by Ian Russell and he headed easily into the net.

Forfar levelled however when the Brechin defence were posted missing in the 65th minute. No one dealt with a ball to Michele Lombardi and it broke to Frenchman Gregory Tade who slotted home his first goal for Forfar from a tight angle.

Brechin were back infront in the 79th minute when Scott Walker fired home a Kevin Byers cross albeit with a deflection off defender Mark Allison.

Russell should have wrapped things up for City with 2 minutes left when he had only the keeper to beat but he shot high over the bar.

Forfar's miserable day was completed when skipper Alan Rattray was sent off a minute from time for a second booking.
