John's a Gem for Stenhousemuir

John Gemmell's hat-trick helped Stenhousemuir beat Brechin 3-1 at Ochilview, their second victory over the Hedgemen in as many weeks.

Gemmell was on the scoresheet when the Warriors recorded a 4-0 victory over Brechin in the League Cup, and he again put the hosts ahead with a close-range header after 21 minutes.

Jonathan Stewart almost equalised three minutes later with a driven 25-yard strike.

Garry Brady's cross found Andrew Jackson in the 58th minute, and the Brechin striker found the bottom corner with a left-footed shot to notch his third goal of the season and level the scores.

Both sides struck the crossbar within the space of minute moments later, before Gemmell found the top corner with a 25-yard effort to put the home side back in the lead.

The Stenhousemuir summer signing completed his hat-trick with another stunning long-range effort in added time as Martyn Corrigan's men secured their win.
