Smith secures points for Stirling

Darren Smith's third goal of the season was enough to give Stirling their first win for five games, thanks to a 1-0 victory over Brechin.

Stirling's top goalscorer Scott Davieson hit the crossbar on 15 minutes with a long-range effort before Smith broke the deadlock four minutes later, the 23-year-old striker converting Joshua Flood's cross from close range.

The away side were then reduced to 10 men midway through the first half as striker James Lister received a red card for a reckless challenge on Stirling defender Gary Thom.

Brechin striker Graham Weir had the opportunity to score a dramatic late equaliser deep into stoppage time for the away side but he saw his header comfortably saved by Sam Filler in the Stirling goal.
