Boylan, who netted Brechin's 4th goal.
This game was perfect for players to stake a claim in the first team and for regaining their fitness.
Brechin started the game well and put pressure on Forfar for the first 20 minutes as Ally Mitchell tested the Forfar goalkeeper from 25 yards.
A few minutes later Mitchell netted after some great play down the right hand side, as he lashed home from 30 yards.
Not long before Half time Brechin doubled their lead as a corner from the left was flicked on by Davie White and went to the path of Boylan, who hit the post and bar before the ball fell to Marc Millar, who lobbed into the net from just outside the box.
Brechin made a change at half time as Jamie Smith came on for Davie White, who was outstanding at the back and should play against Falkirk at Ochilview on Saturday.
It was a quiet first half until Marc Millar tried to clear a loose ball but fell to the ground in agony, he was subbed off for Derek Clark.
Brechin made it 3 when a great run by Gavin Beith on the left hand side was finished by a crisp shot into the net by Chris Templeman.
Brechin came close to a 4th goal when Charlie King was put through on goal and dribbled round the goalkeeper, but he made the angle too awkward and hit the ball into the side netting.
Brechin finally scored their 4th goal a minute from time when good work down the right hand side was finished off by Colin Boylan.
