Brechin found out that Alan Main might not return to action until October and Campbell feels the signing won't be worthwhile.
He has also lost interest in signing defender Scott McNicol, who spent the end of last season on loan at Angus neighbours Forfar Athletic. The former Dunfermline man is now looking for a new club.
