Brechin v Clyde

Clyde will be looking to gain revenge over a Brechin who side who defeated them in the 1st round of the Bell's Cup earlier in the season. The energetic
Clyde side showed that they are no mugs but only Steven Hampshires extra time winner was difference between the two sides.

Things have changed since then though, Brechin have started the campaign poorly despite playing some good football in the opening couple of games, and find themselves 9th in the table just above QoS, who have had a disastorous start under Iain Scott. Graham Roberts, however, has completely transformed the Clyde side which had a major change in personel over the summer. The defence has tightened up and they are scoring goals. Despite being one of the favourites for the drop at the bookies Clyde have rocketed up to 4th place after a couple of excellent victories.

City will have Gerry Britton available for selection after being signed a couple of days ago by Ian Campbell and is eagerly looking forward to playing Clyde, the rivals of his former club, Partick Thistle.

Graham Roberts spoke to the official Clyde website, saying:

“All the lads came back refreshed and raring to go for the game on Saturday," asserted the Manager. "Tom Brighton returned on Thursday from international duty and showed no ill effects from his travels.”

“Brechin will certainly be a test for us. They are a big, physical, experienced side but tomorrow represents a chance for us to show how much we have progressed since the first game of the season.”

Since the transfer deadline, Brechin City have strengthened their squad further with the signature today of experienced forward Gerry Britton and the extension of Alex Burns’ contract. As well as Burns, the ex-Clyde camp is completed by Gary Bollan and Craig McEwan, adding a further competitive edge to the game.
