Brechin v Ross County Preview

Last updated : 21 March 2006 By BCM

Brechin take on high flying Ross County tomorrow in which will be a meaningless game for the home side. Brechin have only won one game in the league this season and look destined for Division 2. Ross County, meanwhile, are not giving up on the 1st division title just yet. St Mirren have always been in control at the top but the Staggies have always been there or thereabouts this season and they still hope to put a run together in order to catch the Buddies at the top.

Brechin City Team News:

Brechin only have two players unavailable for the match. Defender Gary Bollan is still suspended while fellow left back Danny Grainger will also be suspended following his dismissal against Clyde at Broadwood last Saturday. Otherwise, caretaker managers John Hillcoat and Paul Deas have a full squad to choose from, with the latter likely to start as the aforementioned left backs are out injured.

Player to watch: David Hannah

This will be David Hannah's home debut and Brechin fans and board will no doubt be looking to see if the defensive midfielder is worth keeping on for next season. The former Celtic and Dundee Utd man made his debut in the 5-1 hammering at Broadwood last week-end, and he was best out of a very bad bunch.

Ross County Team News:

County will be without former City goalkeeper Stuart Garden after he landed awkwardly against St Johnstone last week-end, and he will be replaced by Ian McCaldon. Alex Burke, who has been a constant thron in the flesh for City this season, looks set to miss out also.

Player to watch: John Rankin

John is an extremely talented playmaker who ran the show in our last match against County where he scored two fantastic strikes to win the game for the home side. Came on as a sub for 'Scotland Future' in the 3-2 defeat against 'Turkey Future' in Inverness on Wednesday night.

Match Facts & Stats

Brchin haven't got the best record against County this season, with the Staggies winning all 3 matches between the two sides. City lost 1-0 at Victoria Park earlier in the season before they hammered us 4-1 at Glebe Park. City then travelled to Dingwall in January only to be beaten by two fantastic John Rankin strikes.

Match Prediction:

This game should be quite tight. This is a must win game for Ross County if they are to keep the pressure on St Mirren at the top. City meanwhile have nothing to play for but pride. I can see this being a tight win for County.
