The Brechin chairman expects the Kirkaldy side to bring a sizeable support North for what is a crucial fixture for both sides and he wants a positive reaction to back his own team.
"I think this is by far the biggest game of the season so far and I know Raith are a well-supported club" said Mr Birse.
"I want to ask the people of Brechin and the surrounding areas to turn out and support out team on Saturday.
"We have issued similar pleas in the last couple of seasons when we were chasing promotion.
"This season has always been about survival and we have never hidden that" he added.
"I honestly believe that this is one of the biggest games the club has played in for years. Certainly the biggest in my quarter of a century with the club.
"We aren't raking in cash by the barrowload in the first division. But for a club like Brechin City, it's quite simply the only place to be.
"I honestly think that if we can remain in division one it would give us an opportunity to consolidate our position and go from strength to strength.
"But we need the backing of local people in occasions like this.
"The people of the area have responded tremendously in the past when we have needed them most and I call upon them once more to play their part in something that will not only boost the club, but also the local economy.
"Many had us written off in the first few months of the season and we want to show them that our community can turn out when it matters and help a first division club remain exactly that.
"We already have business backing City. But on Saturday we simply want all of Brechin to back the City!!"
