"We'll have to work hard" - Dick Campbell

With a week gone in the long-awaited break in games for City, Dick Campbell claims that two weeks without a game will give City a chance to iron out things on the training pitch - something City haven't had much chance to do this season, with midweek games nearly every week since the start.

With the Falkirk game next Saturday, it will be a tough test of what has happened over the break period, and Team selection should be interesting to see - both Kevin Fotheringham and Grant Johnston were struggling for fitness, this break should see them through that.

Brechin know what they are capable of, and they are more than capable of beating Falkirk, as was shown in the cup match at the start of the season.

But, as Brechin, more than anyone, have shown, Cup football and League football seem to be chalk and cheese, and Campbell wants City to show their ability to put away teams in League matches.

Campbell was - let's say 'more than angry' - after losing yet another game, this time at home to Queen of the South.

"One thing that bothers me is that we keep shooting ourselves in the foot", he said.  "The first half, I never felt under pressure in any shape or form.  I thought we were well in control of the game.  In the second half, obviously John had a word with his own team, and they responded by playing a wee bit."

"But we are very guilty of inconsistent performances between first halves and second halves."

"We did not go out there and carry it on from the first half.  We gave the ascendency of the game to Queen of the South and they have scored - from their point of view - a good goal, but from my point, it was shocking.", he continued.

But maybe these inconsistencies are due to Brechin still finding their feet in the division, and if so, just that one win that eludes them will surely lift spirits.

Brechin are not a bad football side.  We definately aren't as bad as we have shown this season, in the league anyway.

Confidence seems to be another factor in our poor performances - only a handful of players seem to display the confidence that had us promoted twice in two seasons, winning the league once.  Neil Jablonski, Charlie King, Scott McCulloch and Grant Johnston are the ones, in my view, that have shown that confidence and willingness to City's cause that we need as a team.  Steven Hampshire would be included in that group, but it seems he is just now finding his feet at the club, and I'm waiting to see whether he will keep up his good form or not.

Either way, we need a result sooner rather than later, and with three tough games ahead (Falkirk, Raith, and St Johnstone), and two cup games (Forfar and Aberdeen), we really need at least 4 points, and to at least beat Forfar (although I think we have the capability to shock Aberdeen).
